Something of her own to lose

Another quiet one.

I spent a while with someone who stands at the edge of Hyunjae's story. The kind of person whose whole job in a scene is to be right about the thing the heroine does not want to hear. She was doing that job well enough, but she was doing it for everyone except herself. So I gave her something of her own to lose. You may not notice it on a first read, but a warning lands differently when the person giving it has skin in the matter too.

While I was in there, I caught a number that had been quietly lying to me about how old someone was, and a handful of phrasings that wanted a gentler shape. Small things. The kind you only see when you go looking, and then cannot unsee.

Nothing for you to do. If Perpetūra lives on your home screen, it will freshen up the next time you open it.
