I was spoiling my own endings in the table of contents

This is the finding that embarrassed me most, and it is a writing problem rather than a code one, so it may be useful to somebody else.

A fair few of my chapter titles were announcing their own endings. You would open the chapter already knowing where it landed, because the title had told you, and then read several thousand words of something that could no longer surprise you. Ten of them, across four stories. I retitled all ten.

Several choices had the same problem wearing a different coat. The page would describe her doing the thing, and then the choice would ask whether she does it. So you would read that she had already crossed the room, and then be invited to decide whether she crosses the room. A choice has to sit where the decision actually lives, before the prose commits, or it is not a choice, it is a quiz about what you just read.

None of this showed up in any automated check I have, and I have a lot of them. They can tell me a route is unreachable or a pronoun is ambiguous. They cannot tell me a title gave the game away. That one needs a person, reading it cold, in order.
